The free guide sign-up

If you sign up for the free guide, I keep your email address, when you signed up and confirmed, which version of the sign-up wording you saw, and the page you signed up on. You confirm first by pressing a button on the page linked from a confirmation email, and nothing else is sent until you do. That link expires after 7 days. Nothing is stored before you confirm, except that my email provider, Resend, keeps a copy of every email it sends, including the confirmation, for 30 days. The sign-up runs on Netlify, which hosts this site and passes your address to Resend. When you confirm, it also keeps a coded fingerprint of your address (not the address itself) for a day or two, so the same emails can't start twice.

Once you confirm, your address is stored with Resend, in the United States, and used only to send you the guide and three short emails over about 10 days. They link to my paid Playbook, and the last one is an offer for it. After that, I don't email you again unless you sign up for something else. Your address isn't sold or shared with anyone else, and the emails don't track opens or clicks. You signed up with your consent, and you can withdraw it at any time.

Every email has an unsubscribe link. "Stop these emails" ends the free-guide emails and keeps a note so they don't restart; if you sign up again later, you get one new confirmation email. "Stop all", or the "Stop all marketing email to this address" link in the confirmation email, ends all marketing email from me and The Waldrep Company, including the Digital Forensics Today newsletter, and the form won't email that address again.

I keep the sign-up record for 24 months after the last email I sent you, as proof of what you agreed to, and then delete it. If you choose "Stop all" or stop all email to your address, I keep your address and that choice for as long as that's needed so you aren't emailed again.

Buying the Playbook

Payments are handled by Stripe, which sees your payment details and sends your receipt. This site only receives the confirmation it needs to give you your download, and keeps no record of it.

Everything else

The site is hosted by Netlify, which keeps basic technical records of visits (such as IP addresses) for security and operations. I use Google Search Console to see which searches lead to the site; it does not track individual visitors on this site.

If you email me about speaking, press or a refund, your message goes to my Gmail account and is kept only as long as I need it to reply.

Links to The Waldrep Company carry a short tag showing they came from this site. When you use thewaldrepcompany.com, its own privacy policy applies.

Your data

To see, correct, delete or get a copy of what I hold about you, or to object to how it's used, email me at waldrep.eric at gmail dot com. I'll reply within 30 days. Deleting your record also deletes the note that you unsubscribed, so if you want no more email, I can keep just that note instead. If you're in the EU or the UK, you can also complain to your data protection authority.
